The Artist

  • Who are you?
  • I am to be called JIRU! Because I'm awesome like that.
  • Why did you choose 'aRLegOdDesS' as your username?
  • I honestly don't know. I think Arle was supposed to be a name for an OC of mine, but that OC turned out really Mary-sue so she disappeared. Goddess was randomly added there. ;D
  • How long have you been drawing?
  • I've been drawing since I was very young. It was said, according to my parents, that I've always been good with colors to the point that I remember all of their names quite well (before numbers :P). However, I have only enhanced my art skills on the year 2007 for I only did art as a hobby before then.
  • What is your style?
  • My art style is basically anime style, but my goal is to achieve a semi-realism art style. I like anything that is fancy and sparkly. For now, I would describe my style as fantasy. I'm still in the improving process though and I'm far from being content with my skills.
  • Who is your main influence?
  • Anime artists. I think it's pretty obvious where my style is inspired from.
  • What are you going for in College?
  • Animation (Digital Arts). I plan to get my college diploma then university degree.
  • Who is your favourite artist?
  • I don't have any favourite artist. I like many types of art, but I don't favour any. However, I like the old Disney art style and Fuyumi Souryo's art (especially "MARS").
  • Do you get artblocks?
  • Yes! It's really frustrating. :/
  • What is your favourite animated movie? "The Swan Princess" by Nest Family Entertainment and "The Princess and the Frog" by Disney. I personally prefer 2D over 3D animated movies.
  • Lefty or Righty?
  • Righty~!

Education

  • Did you study art?
  • I did; however, I wouldn't really call it studying since the art classes I attended to, they basically gave me paper and pencil (or canvas and paint) and I went on my own way. My teachers would give me advices or suggestions every now and then, but I go with what I want.
  • Are you taking any art classes now?
  • Well, I am taking Animation in college so why can't there be drawing? To be honest though, we rarely draw in most of my classes except Traditional Arts class which focuses on perspective drawing.

Tools/Process

  • What drawing tools do you use?
  • I mainly use mechanical pencil (0.5 lead) and normal white paper for sketching or any of those sorts. Then I scan anything that I have drawn with a scanner and continue drawing with either Adobe Photoshop or PaintTool SAI.
Other drawing tools I use are Faber Castell Water Color Pencils, Oil Paint, Acrylic Paint, Water Color Paint, and Copic Markers (though, I have not yet tried Copic Marker coloring), Hi-Tec- C (0.3, 0.4., 0.5), Staedtler Pen (0.25, 0.5). *I use a lightbox (which my daddy made) to trace my sketches.
  • What art programs do you use?
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0/Adobe Photoshop CS3/PaintTool SAI
    For 3D Animation, MAYA.
  • Do you use a Tablet?
  • I do. I have ET-0405-U Wacom Tablet (immobile x___X), DigiPro T-8000U, and Wacom Intuos 4.
  • Scanner?
  • Canon MP240 series.
  • Do you trace your sketch to another paper?
  • Yes, I do. Sketches are rough and messy, so to achieve a cleaner drawing with clean lines and shading, I trace it to another paper. However, if my sketch is intended to be colored digitally, I just scan the sketch and do the lineart in either Photoshop or SAI.
  • Do you listen to music while drawing?
  • I do. A lot. Music is what gives me the inspiration to draw, actually. As to what type of music, I listen to NE-YO, Kokia, Tsuki/ko Amano, NEWS, TVQX, classic music, nature music, Rihanna, and a lot more. It varies depending on my mood.
  • Do you draw lineart traditionally or digitally?
  • It varies. Lines are way easier to control when done traditionally, but mistakes are easily covered or removed when done digitally. I tend to mix both, but it depends, really.
  • What does your working place look like?
  • Messy and disorganized xD. I'm one of those people that when they draw, all hell break loose. All papers are scattered on either the floor or my working desk. :P
  • Do you use references?
  • I do so that I know if my anatomy is either right or wrong. I'm working on my anatomy, don't worry.
  • How long does it take you to finish one drawing?
  • It varies on my mood and schedule. However, I tend to finish two Pencil Art drawings in a day (when I'm in a good mood) and one digital art in one day. But with college, I barely have enough time to draw personal art besides school work :/
  • What do you find easier to draw, female or male?
  • Female. I'm used to drawing them whereas I have a hard time drawing the male species >___<; I think it has to do with the reason that there is no limit to a female's style of clothing.

Other

  • Can I use/trace/copy your art?
  • NO. That's called stealing. You are only allowed to use my art as references. Otherwise, you're not allowed to. Stealing is not approved nor allowed by the society.
  • Can I commission you?
  • As of now, real life commissions are unavailable. As soon as I get my hands on PayPal, then I will be able to.
  • Do you do requests/art trades?
  • Requests, no. Art trades...ask me and give samples of your work. It depends on my mood and schedule.
  • Exchange links?
  • Go to the Links section. Information is there.
  • Other Questions?
  • If you have other questions that are not included here, contact me. I would gladly answer it. No stupid questions, please.
